"Thing 14: Bitmoji Fun"

I reviewed a several articles while completing this assignment.  The topic of these articles  were mainly about how an educator can use Bitmojis as an teaching aid.  The article "Using Bitmoji in the Your Classroom" the author discusses how Bitmojis can be used to draw attention to key concepts.  Like in the place of an arrow.  Also as a way to give directions and/or elicit feedback from students.  The article "Bitmoji in the Classroom"  the author used Bitmojis to make her parent teacher contacts more entertaining.  This served as a good ice breaker with the parents of her students.  I liked that she used them to create class posters for items such as; motivational posters, rules and procedures, schedules, and behavior charts.  I like all of these ideas.  "Back To School With Bitmoji" was very informative because it gave me lots of examples of the applications and features of Bitmojis.

I created an account on Bitmoji using my google account.  I did not find it difficult at all.  Once I downloaded it I had to create my avatar.  This was a little difficult because I had to think about what I look like.  Also how I wanted to be represented in avatar form.  The avatars did not have perfect options that fit me but I did the best I could.  I sent an avatar to a friend of mine via text.  In the future I will pay closer attention to the actual avatar because I sent one with a trophy and I assumed (from the first two words) it stated "You're The Best".  But it did not. LOL

    Lol! That's a funny mistake about the trophy. Hope it was a good friend. :) My bitmoji doesn't look anything like me, they don't cater to older faces! not enough wrinkles. Fine with me, I'll go with a 30 years younger look.

I completed the "Option 1 of this lesson.  I downloaded the picture above from the "Photos for Class" website.  I felt like this site has the best selection of math related images.  I also like this site because the credit for the photos are automatically printed on the image.  I also checked out the "Pixabay" site.  I liked the selection that it had on its illustration section, but I felt that they were too artsy for my uses.  The "Photopin" site's selection was more geared towards primary school classrooms. Thing 1: Getting Started

Hello my name is Cleveland Evans.  I am a math teacher in the Rochester City School District.  I am presently located at P - Tech high school where I teach Algebra 1. When I first heard about this P.D. It really peaked my interest.  Lately I have been wanting to become as computer savvy as possible.  I would like to incorporate more on online assignments to my courses.  I also believe that the future of teaching is going to shift from being teacher in front of classroom, to a more computer based situation.

"Thing 8: Digital Curation Tools"

     I read three articles for this lesson.  The first was "To boost higher order thinking, try curation" by Jennifer Gonzalez.  I am happy that I chose this as my first article to read because it answered two important questions I had.  "What is curation?" and "What is the main purpose is the purpose or need for it?".  She goes into detail on the three major aspects of curation which are: Understand, Analyze,and Evaluate.  This article also contains some sample projects.      The second article was titled "Curation for digital learning".  the author talks about how there is a nation wide increase in technology in schools nation wide.  There are many more physical devices in our schools but not an increase content.  This is why he feels there is a need for curation.  He goes over the process of curation.  This was helpful because I did not know how to do it.  He also goes into the reasons why a person would do a curation.     The the third ar
